You know the song. Now make it yours.
You sing in the car, quietly along with a recording, or already in front of people. With Gabija, a favourite song becomes practical work: finding a comfortable key, hearing the melody more clearly, shaping a phrase and learning how to repeat it on your own.

One phrase. A clear change.
Repeating a whole song is easy. Knowing what to do differently next time is more useful. We choose a phrase, identify a task, try an exercise and return to the song. Technique stays connected to the music you want to sing.
- 01
Find your starting point
Bring a song and a goal: start from scratch, improve your pitch, prepare for a performance or sing with more confidence. We look for a suitable key and an achievable passage.
- 02
Take a difficult moment apart
Melody, rhythm, a breath, a vowel, a consonant. There are several ways into a phrase. We narrow the task until you know what to listen for and what to change.
- 03
Test it in the song
After the exercise, we return to the same passage and compare the sound and sensation. We look for something you can repeat deliberately, rather than get right just once.
- 04
Give the phrase a meaning
Which word should the listener wait for? Where would a pause help? We work with lyrics, dynamics and phrasing, then choose a clear task to give your practice between lessons a direction.

A voice has technique. A song has something to say.
Gabija holds a master’s degree in jazz from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. She performs jazz, soul and pop with Vytautas Straižys at Downtown Piano Lab. In this music, the notes are only part of the work: rhythm, tone, the meaning of a lyric and the way a phrase reaches its listener all matter.
Lessons connect vocal technique with interpretation. We learn to hear what is happening in your voice and find musical choices that suit you. Come with one song you have been putting off, or a repertoire for your next performance.
From a first attempt to your own repertoire
- Adults beginning to sing without previous musical training.
- Singers who want focused work on pitch, rhythm and phrasing.
- Anyone exploring pop, soul or jazz and looking for their own interpretation.
- People preparing for a performance, a recording or one meaningful song.
Before the first lesson
Can I start as an adult without musical training?
Yes. You do not need to read music or have a prepared repertoire. We begin with listening, a comfortable sound and a short melody, choosing tasks to suit your current level.
Can I choose my own songs?
Yes. Bring one or more songs you want to sing. Together we will find a suitable key and passages to work on. Your repertoire can grow with your skills.
How is a lesson different from singing along to a recording?
We focus on a specific moment: where the pitch slips, the rhythm gets lost or a phrase breaks off. You get a clear task and try it in the song, so you also know what to practise independently.
What if I want to sing and accompany myself?
Gabija’s lessons focus on singing. Vytautas Straižys also teaches singing and accompanying yourself at the piano. Tell us your goal when you enquire and we can help you choose a direction.
What is the price, and how do I book?
A 45-minute lesson for teenagers and adults aged 12 and over costs €50. Use the form below and tell us your preferred times. We will reply with available slots.
