One evening on the DOWNTOWN PIANO LAB stage, world-class beatbox, improvisation and thrilling musical battles will meet. The culmination of the evening will be an exceptional RIVER concert. Enzo Fumex, a performer of French and Colombian descent, is one of the brightest names in contemporary beatbox worldwide. After becoming the French beatbox champion in 2018, he later triumphed at the prestigious “Grand Beatbox Battle” and established himself among the most recognisable performers of the new generation. Today, RIVER performs all over the world – from clubs in Tokyo and New York to Colombia, major European stages and the legendary “Glastonbury” festival. Yet his greatest strength lies not in titles, but in his ability to turn the human voice into an entire musical world. BEATBOX MEETS PIANO BATTLE Before RIVER’s concert, a beatbox battle format never before seen in Lithuania awaits. In the qualifying round, the country’s best beatbox performers will each give a three-minute solo performance – just the performer and a microphone. A world-class panel will assess the participants on musicality, technique, artistry and other criteria. The four strongest performers will advance to the battle stage and meet face to face. Each battle will consist of two 90-second rounds in which virtuoso pianist Vytautas Straižys will accompany the beatbox performers live. It is an unpredictable dialogue between voice and piano in which every improvisation is born here and now. After each battle, the panel will immediately announce its verdict. The audience will see two semi-finals, a third-place final and the grand final. The winner of first place will receive a cash prize and a private piano or singing lesson with Vytautas Straižys. It is an opportunity to learn from a world-class performer, discover the foundations of beatbox or improve existing skills. Everyone can take part, regardless of previous experience.
